Farm sits on the corner of North Road and Vine Street in Brighton’s North Laine, literally around the corner from me. Despite its closeness, it’s taken a year for me to try it. It’s a little independent rustic cafe and farm shop just a few doors down from Bills – a no frills and cute casual brunch, lunch or coffee spot.
On a sunny day its ideal – you can sit outside and its only a short walk into town or the lanes plus they serve eggs to perfection – which is always a bonus. Eggs Royale one thick wholegrain toast when down a treat.
Other items on the menu include sandwiches (hot or cold), homemade cakes, omelettes, full farmers breakfasts and a few fresh fruit smoothies.
One thing that you can guarantee is that all food on the menu is true to its name, all items are sourced from local East Sussex Farms and Bakeries. It’s not unheard of in Brighton to pay through the nose for ‘locally sourced produce’ however the Farm was very reasonably priced and the quality was good. The wait was a little long considering it was early on a Saturday morning and there was only one other table but if you’re not in a rush, it’s not the end of the world – I wasn’t in any hurry.
If you’re looking for something a little more ‘Brighton’ than the likes of Bill’s or Carluccios then the Farm is up on my list of noteworthy independent cafes to try out at least once.
